Subsequent to my photographic exhibition in 2018 “A Suitcase Full of Memories” which included 3 Afghan images, I had been asked if I could produce another exhibition solely on Afghanistan. I spent most of summer 2019 re-mastering my collection of 995 images from 1972-2003 (my last visit to Afghanistan).
This new photo exhibition for 2020 entitled “Afghanistan Black & White” was created from my Agfa film negatives shot 45years ago. These photographs serve as a nostalgic retrospective of a time shared with 4 heroic Peace Corps Volunteers, with whom I was fortunate to serve and who provided a balanced perspective to a tragic time in Afghan history.
As we all age, I think fondly of the friendships that were forged by chance and am thankful for sharing a common life purpose in Afghanistan with Tim McCormack, Jim Mathewson, Jim Hicks and Don Condon.
